Citizen Science Global Partnership

The Global Citizen Science Partnership is a network of networks that seeks to promote and advance citizen science for a sustainable world. Launched in December 2017 at the UN Science-Policy-Business Forum on the Environment, Citizen Science Global brings together existing networks of citizen science researchers and practitioners with advisory boards representing policy, business, and community-based perspectives.

This initiative was founded in partnership with United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and is also supported by United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

EU-Citizen.Science is an online platform for sharing knowledge, tools, training, and resources for citizen science – by the community, for the community.

The vision for the platform is to serve as a Knowledge Hub, in aid of the mainstreaming of citizen science, and build on the growing impact of citizens participating in research across the full range of scientific enquiry. We accomplish this by supporting the sharing of knowledge, know-how, and experience between anyone doing or wanting to do citizen science.

Zooniverse

What is the Zooniverse?

The Zooniverse is the world’s largest and most popular platform for people-powered research. This research is made possible by volunteers — more than a million people around the world who come together to assist professional researchers. Our goal is to enable research that would not be possible, or practical, otherwise. Zooniverse research results in new discoveries, datasets useful to the wider research community, and many publications.

Center for Citizen Science (Austria)

In Austria citizens have been committed to the exploration of nature for many decades. For exmaple since 1856 a network of observers has supported the Zentralanstalt für Meteorologie und Geodynamik (ZAMG) in the phenological observation of the native flora and fauna. The Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research, museums and research institutions have also discovered Citizen Science.

The next big step followed in 2015 with the establishment of the Center for Citizen Science (CfCS) of the OeAD with the following four focal points: Information, consulting, networking and funding. Among the best-known initiatives that the ZfCS has carried out or is carrying out are the Top Citizen Science funding initiative and the Citizen Science Award research competition.
